Phew - Sten have you seen Craig's splits??

Why don't you add yours?

Errr, why don't I add mine? Any idea what that graph would look like??? :)

omigod - now have a look at Rachel's. There's no need to be embarrased Sten; you have to face up to facts. If you put these splits up now you can only get better: I've been doing this for 37 years - its all downhill from here

All right, I'll put mine in too. Hope that makes you feel a bit better, Eoin, it'll certainly move you up in the graph.

Craig's time is good but doable. Have you seen his route at

http://home.amnet.net.au/~jf/cgi-bin/reitti.cgi?ac...

Basically run straight, know where you are and the speed is just under 6 min/km.

I've now also put my route in, but between 9 and 10 I'm not really sure what I did.

A lot of those routes look very straight - I suspect you are spending too much time getting the compass bearing accurate. It didn't help at no. 1 and you didn't miss it by much. Have you got a thumb compass?

No, I don't have a thumb compass. I can't take bearings while I run, so I have to stop every hundred metres or so and it does take me a long time. I should trust my interpretation of the contours more, for example on the way to 5 I felt I was swerving to the right based on the contours, but stuck to my bearing, which led me to the wrong boulder cluster.

Absolutely. It would be very useful to do some training with Contour-only maps which can be produced pretty easily in OCAD (if someone has time). I use contours a lot more than the compass.
