Purple pen, as of October 4 (v.2.1) now supports direct export of courses to pdf. There are some other features, including the ability to use a pdf as a map file, but the export feature closes the last gap of purple pen's functionality for novice course setters.
It is true that there are other vector exporters (that convert the eps), like CutePDF, but now everything is wrapped in a single package. The barrier to newcomers is even lower.
Wow! Using a PDF as a map file is AWESOME ... I've been waiting for that from PurplePen or Condes. Thanks Ian!
Hurray! That was one little obstacle for our training-night course setters this summer as we switched to providing pre-printed courses. They'd draw the course and say....uh... now what? :) Everyone was emailing the courses last minute to anyone else who could convert them to PDF. haha.
Great news indeed.
