jjcote: I'm definitely toes-only when I stop, because my seat is so high up. It seemed like a problem when I first built it, but I easily got used to it and it became a non-issue. But my position is pretty upright, don't know if it would be weird if I were more reclined.

cmorse: I worry about the toes only thing mostly in coming to a secure stop in wet weather when my feet might be more prone to slipping when I put them down.

my new position isn't all that reclined, but the seat base is tipped back now such that my butt is cradled in the seat - I found before that I would tend to slide a little - both side to side and a gradual creep forward such that periodically I'd push on both pedals to push my ass back into the seat more.

There's also the possibility of the SLR seat base which is a metal seat pan with closed cell foam rather than the mesh seat base. That seat base drops you almost 2 inches closer to the ground and definitely allows your feet to sit flat on the ground at stops. But the only SLR seat I've seen wasn't actually mounted on a bike. I tried it sitting on a milk crate but that doesn't really convey the feel of the thing...

Congrats on getting Stephen around the billygoat course, btw...
