Runodk: What is the english word for SWE eljusspår eller DK Lysløjpe?

Do we have to make one up?

robw: I geuss if you translated it literally it would be electric light track but they dont exist in australia so i reckon just stick to the danish/swe word, its like english uses fartlek instead of speed play cos its a swedish thing, plus it sounds better.

Shep: lets make one up. widjeewanga. sound ok?

lazydave: thats a funny name, i would have called it a dippledonga

robw: You cant just use the aboriginal names for it - that just the same as using swedish or danish, what about a bulbusta? Then it has the word bulb in it which refers to the lights and the word busta which explains that is a track where you bust ya gut... does it get more self explanatory. "I just got back from 10k on the bulbusta".

Shep: not bad robw, not bad. you dont think "artificiallyilluminatedrecreationtrail" has a better ring to it?

how about this - the longest word... from swedish with 130 letters. sortof reminds me of scrotumanimals:
NORDÖSTERSJÖKUSTARTILLERIFLYGSPANINGSSIMULATORANLÄGG-
NINGSMATERIELUNDERHÅLLSUPPFÖLJNINGSSYSTEMDISKUSSIONS-
INLÄGGSFÖRBEREDELSEARBETEN

acejase: how about getting into some good ol aussie rhyming slang:
"yeh the other day I was running down the ol septic bight back"

#  Posted 2007-06-01 12:20:43
robw: Top effort Jase, it works on two fronts, the ryhming slang and the fact that after a hard session on the septic bite back there usually is a bit of septic bite back.

Clever thinking shep - and that swe word is crazy ( see it includes your favourite new swedish word too - span) but dont you think "artificiallyilluminatedrecreationtrail" needs to be more descriptive - i mean from your word we dont know what the surface is like or how the lights are suspended or that its likely to be in the forest.

robw: BTW cant believe Thomas hasnt commented on this.

blairtrewin: It would be nice if anywhere in Australia (or at least anywhere where normal people live) had any use for lit cross-country ski tracks - I've often thought places like Canberra or Bendigo would be brilliant for cross-country skiing if they had snow.
