That's a good day of training.

Yes. I was wiped. I didn't look at the map well and the ridge trail I thought existed was marked H (historic, unmaintained, abandoned) and didn't exist when I reached the top of the saddle on my first climb. I payed for it for a couple days :)

Fun to see such good participation & results for OK at Charmion's race last weekend! Congrats!

The race was fun. Orienteering helps, but I think it mainly helps between controls. You couldn't really navigate right to the marker. You could get near and then you had to hunt around.

I might do the Smithville 8-hour in May. Sandy mentioned it as a possibility. It is a team event and we both prefer solo, but it looks like it might be fun.

It's a great area and race, but expect the competition to be tougher.

I'm expecting much tougher competition. Also, I think there is paddling a canoe which isn't much fun.

There's a decent O' map of the area with all of the single track MTB trails at Smithville.

my guess is that it will be a combo of 1:24000 USGS topi and the O-map, and yes they will take full advantage of that beautiful body of water. :)
