kupackman: Oh god. That was ugly. Don't ask me why I decided to attempt the long course after the "sprint". I got so frustrated that I just ripped up my map and punchcard into confetti and walked back for hot dogs.

I was the first one to finish the sprint, and Eric asked how it was.

Me: "Not very sprinty. It took me 37 minutes."

Eric: "Whoa." (A reaction that was half "this must be a tough sprint" and half "Patrick has no idea what he's doing out there.")

Fast-forward to an hour later.... definitely felt better about my 37 minutes.

I also tried to warn Nikolay about the missing trail that was the obvious route choice to #4. Afterward, he wished that he'd listened to me. He got stuck there also.

I think 3 of my worst 5 orienteering outings have been at this park. Seriously. My legs are still burning from all of the nettles.

roschi: certainly some of the worst bushwhack i have ever done... also I got completely lost in the thick green at #9, not pretty... i did also try the long course but except for ripping up the map and passport to confetti i had the same experience :) hey i love the sammamish orienteering courses (after a few weeks, not right then or right after), they are totally bingo at times, but hardcore, i remember last year's lake sammamish state park where i found myself totally submerged in a swamp.. it felt like i was in florida...

Terry: Go Patrick, you tied Eric on the sprint, yes?

kupackman: Eric probably clipped me by a couple of seconds. I was in at 37:28. I don't know if I deserve a "Go Patrick" on this one... this was a needle-in-a-haystack event.
