AZ:
After 10 years as volunteer Executive Director, Charlotte is retiring at the end of this month. Orienteering Canada has advanced a lot under Charlotte's leadership and the future looks promising. I for one would like to thank her for everything she's accomplished and her leadership over the last decade.

More details on the Orienteering Canada website (just one of the many things Charlotte modernized).

Orienteering obviously is always going to be facing challenges of all kinds. But from time to time it is good to reflect on the positive changes that have happened and appreciate the people who have volunteered their time & expertise & energy to create these changes.

During "Charlotte's Time", the changes that stand out the most for me are:
  • Creation of the LTAD

  • Integration with Canada's sports bodies, especially Sport Canada

  • Strong and organized High Performance Program

  • National Orienteering Week

  • Updated officials program

  • Project 5,000 - the expansion of participation

Thanks Char!

Key word is LEADERSHIP. Charlotte has brought so much direction to Canadian orienteering (pun intended). Through her leadership that direction has placed our sport on a great path and accomplished a lot already. For me the integration with Canada's sports bodies and LTAD stand out. As AZ states 'the future looks promising' because of her vision, leadership and hard work. Thanks Charlotte!

Charlotte's leadership was 10 years at OC but started so much earlier taking on AOA and putting Alberta orienteering on the map!
Thank you so much Charlotte for all you do/did ! Your legacy lives on!

I can't express enough how wonderful it has been working with Charlotte these past few years on the Orienteering Canada Board and High Performance Committee. She's been a visionary leader for Orienteering Canada and the sport of orienteering in Canada and in the world for long time now and I'm sure that won't stop being the case even without the job title.

At the same time I'm really looking forward to working more with Tracy. Tracy has been working with Orienteering Canada for the past year and a half as a part time assistant ED. She has brought with her lots of experience from other national sport organizations and we have already seen several internal changes for the better thanks to her professionalism and experience.

Orienteering Canada is in good hands and I'm excited to see where the organisation can go in the next several years.

I'll echo everyone here, congrats and thank you to Charlotte for the years of leadership. The level of professionalism she's brought to Orienteering Canada has been outstanding.

And to add to Jeff's comment above, Orienteering Canada cannot afford to rest and there is a great deal that needs to be done. Good luck to Tracy!

Thank you very much for your contributions to the sport Charlotte! The work that was done on the HPP alone is incredible. It is amazing to see the changes that have been implemented in the 7 years since my last JWOC, and how much more support there is for athlete development. Although there have always been a lot of very hard working people on different levels, everything has now been integrated to the point where there are resources for athletes and clubs regardless of where you live.

There is a lot of work to be done to maintain and build upon this legacy, but a lot of the framework for this has been built. Thanks again!
