Don't want to sound like I'm whining but in the last 30 hours I've been told that:
* we can't take any vehicles into the Long arena (what??? now you tell me?)
* O-Store not allowed to sell at the Middle arena (huh?? before you said okay)
* Frogs have invaded the Relay arena and we have to move!

It's getting to the point at which I'm scared when the phone rings!!

The joys of organizing ;-)
Gotta say - makes me even more impressed with those Italian course planners who re-designed and re-printed the Long EOC course the night before

Boo bah.

You should ask O-Store to drive a food truck to the relay arena and sell roasted frog legs.

Here I was thinking this was an anti-French post.

I should have been more precise - turns out it is Toads, not Frogs

This morning's excitement - now there's been a fire on the Long distance course and perhaps some of the controls are damaged ... off to fight a fire (literately)

Turns out the fire started at one of our control sites. It was put out very quickly but there is no evidence of what started the fire. Landowners are assuming it was started by a cigarette. Circumstantial evidence for sure, but because the flag was right there they are thinking it was probably started by an orienteer. Now I have to convince them that it wasn't caused by an organizer?? ;-)

I'd be more inclined to think someone was trying to vandalize the control

At the Canadians some years ago, someone had a bonfire under one of our controls the night before the meet.

Last year we printed the maps the Monday before race weekend. On Tuesday-Thursday before the race weekend the conservation area built a new fence right in the middle of the start triangle for the middle distance race.
