If you're a sprint-o enthusiast, mark your calendar for September 26-27, 2015 for the first-ever Seattle Adventure Running Tournament.

I've been wanting to organize one of these for years (since my first Sprint the Golden Gate in 2009), and we finally have enough conveniently-located ISSOM maps to make it happen.

The CascadeOC board is on board, and we formally announced it at our annual meeting last Saturday. There's no website yet, but basic details are on the AP event page, and if you have any specific questions, you can ask me.

Sad that it's just a week before EMPO's A meet (on the other side of the country); otherwise we'd be tempted.... Sounds like lots of fun.

Yeah, scheduling can be tough. I was happy that there was an open weekend in September (locally, regionally, nationally)!

July and August have the best weather, but the great weather also means that more people (including potential participants and event staff) are boating, backpacking, etc, on weekends. Once you get to October, the rain reliably returns. September is usually good, but there's still some risk (we had some really rainy days last week, for example).

You just can't please some people. If we had two events I wanted to go to on different sides of the country on consecutive weekends, I'd say it's good planning that they didn't clash for a change! Most people in Aus would say "Where's the other side of the country?"

With just 52 weekends of the year in a country as big as America, you have done well to avoid a direct clash.

Six sprints in two days sounds pretty nice though...

tRicky, my club is hosting the A-meet and we'll have responsibilities on the east coast the weekend before. Otherwise distance wouldn't be that much of a factor.

I am happy that others might have the chance to go to both if they want.

Same thing happened to me in 2012. I missed the US Champs in Georgia because it was a week before IS/IC, which I was directing.

Fair enough :-) That is one of the big downsides of organising stuff as I am endlessly discovering - having to miss other events.

Events a week apart and four time zones difference between the two should not be an issue.
However, it is always a debate when clubs close together plan major events for consecutive weekends. Most don't like it but I like it when they do. Being retired I'm more likely to head to one A event if I can find something to do during the week in between and have another event nearby the next weekend. Well relatively nearby.
Let me tell you this story. Back in '95 I was part way through a sabbatical year off teaching. I was able to drive to Florida for their A meet, then drive over to Texas for another two-day meet before playing some golf and visiting casinos on the way back to Alabama for a 'Spring fling' two- day event there and then two days at Patuxent River in Maryland on the way home. That was an AWESOME holiday even if at the end of it I'd had enough of Shoney's all-you-can-eat breakfasts.
