Nice pictures…what's with the ads?

(a) I don't see any ads, so I'm not sure exactly what is with them :) I'm not doubting that you're seeing them, just that I can't give any details as I don't see them.

(b) I'm very new to Flickr so I don't know what settings etc. might be possible to avoid ads. Anyone else who is experienced with Flickr, please comment/instruct.

I see the ads if I am not signed in to my Yahoo account and view the pictures one by one. I do not see them if I am signed in. I guess that means to get rid of the ads you need to sign in to a Yahoo account.

I'm viewing them on my laptop where I don't THINK I'm signed in to Yahoo and I still don't see them ... I don't know if there is some way Flickr knows that I created the album, even though I did it on another computer, or not.

In any event, my apologies for the ads, and if anyone who knows more about Flickr than I do (which is basically nothing) can help me figure out how to avoid them, I would be most grateful.

For what it's worth, I don't see any ads---using IE via google

Flickr is a Yahoo product.

I'm not signed into Yahoo, and don't DO see ads on my iPad, but they're not obtrusive (below the comment box).

Thanks to Dick for the pictures! How's your arm healing?

Thanks for asking Janet -- it's coming along but there is certainly a ways to go! Somewhat limited mobility in my wrist and in my thumb, but that's slowly improving. I also have some very annoying numbness in the palm of my hand near the base of the thumb, and some odd sensations in the thumb (almost a hypersensitivity to touch) which isn't getting better so I'm more worried about that than the mobility!

OK, NOW I see the ads. I went to the link when I definitely wasn't logged onto Yahoo, and when I went through the pictures one by one, an ad would pop up after every 5 pictures viewed. I do wish I could make them go away but I don't know how, other than to use something other than Flickr maybe?

If you have a paid Flickr account (used to call it Pro, I don't remember what they call it now as I'm grandfathered into Pro) it will remove the ads from your account.

I would imagine that whether one sees ads or not with these photos is largely related to whether or not they are using an ad blocker with their web browser (or perhaps how effective it is).

Thanks, furlong47, I'll look into the cost of a paid account.

In the past I've put pictures in a Facebook album set for "Public" viewing which means (among other things) that one doesn't need a Facebook account to view them, but I got the sense that some people were wary about clicking on anything related to Facebook, so I tried Flickr this time.
