CSU is dominating the registration list so far...
50 registrations already! DVOA takes the lead with 7; QOC in second with 6. Will CSU stage a comeback rally?
There are now over 100 entries. Reminder that regular registration closes March 1; there will be a late fee after March 1.
Also, you must register by March 1 to guarantee T-shirt size (long or short sleeve).
Cave tours are proving popular. There is a limit of 35 per tour. We may be able to add an additional tour time, but don't wait until last minute if you want to be sure of getting in.
Don't forget to book lodging early too. The park lodge and cabins are sold out; the nearest motels in Grayson have limited capacity.
Cave Tour times will be assigned at event check-in.
However, folks who might think that the "early" (~7pm) tour would be better might want to more fully consider the drive time from Morehead -- with sprint starts as late as 5pm -- to Carter Caves...
People going straight from the finish to the early tour, would find that, by the time they get done, they'll still have a 30 minute drive into town to get to a restaurant.
Folks who are staying in the park would probably want to eat first, and once they get to the park, be in for the night.
People who are staying in town could do the early tour, then go to town. Those doing the late tour and getting to town at say 9:30, should not plan to find an open restaurant (other than possibly fast food), so they might want to have dinner before the tour.
Regarding the cave tours: Since I'll be in Kentucky a few days early, I'm planning to go to Mammoth Cave. For this reason and others, I'm not going to do the Carter Caves tour. The websites at both Mammoth and Carter request that you do not carry anything into a cave that you carried into the other, to prevent spreading White Nose Syndrome, a fungal disease that is killing bats.
The Carter Cave tours look like great fun, though. Here's the page on the tours given to the general public:

Thanks for the heads up about not cross contaminating, origamiguy! We are doing the same thing so it is very good to know ahead of time.
160 registered. Reminder that late fees start this Sunday. Also that is the deadline for being certain of getting the size shirt you want.

OLOU now the leader in Registrations with 22. DVOA, CAOC and QOC close behind.
Here is some more information about dining at Carter Caves, to help you plan for your weekend. I'll mention that for vegetarians, the Southwest Veggie Wrap at the park is awesome.
We will offer a breakfast buffet on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings at a cost of: adults - $7.99 and children - $4.99. This price does not include the drink ($1.99). Guests can order off the menu -- but they may not want to have to wait on their food to be prepared.
The restaurant hours are:
Breakfast: 7:00a.m. – 10:00a.m.
Lunch: 11:30a.m. – 2:00p.m.
Dinner: 5:00p.m. – 8:00p.m.
Is the restaurant convenient to where the meet parking will be located?
Restaurant is in the lodge which will have ample parking. It's about 1500 m road walk to starts, less to finishes. Main parking will be near the starts, but parking at the lodge is an option. There may be a shuttle bus running between lodge, start, and finish on Saturday as an alternative to walking.
Please register by 7 or 8am (EST) Monday, if you want to be guaranteed a T-Shirt.
We have extended Registration without late fees through Tuesday:

We are pleased to announce that our dinner speaker will be Kentucky Bat Biologist
Brooke Hines.
Cool, that should be interesting!
You can still register without late fees, but please do so as soon as possible! I would expect we won't initiate the late fees for another day or two until the registrar gets too overwhelmed.
On Friday afternoon, Morehead State University Outdoor Adventures is planning to open their high ropes challenge course, which is located close to the sprint finish. They plan to have it open for "open climbing" from 4 to 6, and as long after that as sufficient demand warrants keeping it open. There is a fee of $5 and separate liability waiver required.
Last chance to register without late fees - extended through this weekend.. We are now over 350 entries.
Last chance for no late fees. Register by 5am Monday morning, EST.
Registration closes at midnight tonight, Eastern time.
Last call, we have continued to keep the online site open until midnight tonight, Saturday, March 14.
After that we will still let you in, BUT you will not receive a personalized bib number with start times; late registration fees will not be waived, and you may have to beg, bribe, and offer to help stuff packets or direct traffic and pick up controls. We don't want to turn anyone away, but with the remoteness of the event sites and the many other issues of organizing this event, we have to set some limits...
