West Point registrar here,
I will be posting updates and information as necessary here until the meet.

Start Times are now accessible on the OUSA webpage:
https://www.orienteeringusa.org/eventregister/a40/...

We have done our very best to meet all of your start time requests. As a whole, I will not be accepting miniscule changes before the meet. However, extenuating circumstances will be considered. If it can wait until the meet, please come see me at Registration on Friday afternoon/evening at the Ski Area parking or Saturday morning in the arena and we will make all changes then.

If you did not make the registration deadline, you may sign up for the race on-site on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. You will pay the Late Registration fee.

Again, please do not send requests with start changes such as starting next to or far apart from someone else. We will make these changes in-person at the meet.

Thank you for your interest in our meet! We sincerely look forward to having everyone.

Patrick Richardson

On site, I would think that all changes would be made at the call-up line...

With the help of Valerie Meyer's watchful and expert eye, a few errors in the start times displayed on OUSA were uncovered. These only affected people with the same last name. Nearly all the start times remain the same. Looking forward to the weekend!

I am a bit confused about the walk to the start. On your event page, line 4 under general information says to expect a "short walk" to the start from the shuttle drop off. The next line says to expect a 1 K walk. The reference map says 2.34 K to the start. I assume that the shuttle will drop us off at packet pick-up???. From there, how long is the walk the the start?

Adding more confusion, the meet notes for day 2 say 250m of climb to start, which is a lot more than the 100m given on the site reference map.

For day 1, the meet notes say 1.9 km walk for Orange plus Green and up, 1.52 for the others.

It would be nice to know which information is correct.

Good Evening Carl, Janet, All,

I hope now to assuage your concerns with some spot on information and explanations.

On Day 1, from registration the distance is between 1.8 and 2.3 Km, for there are two different starts. The reference map is the mean of the two distances. The distance to start from the shuttle drop off point for start is approximately 0.8 to 1.3 Km from either of the starts. These shuttle stops are the second and third stop respectively on the route. The first stop being the ski slope where parking is located.

On Day 2 the climb to the far start is 100 m. After scouring the map the 250 m climb to start listed in the meet notes appears to have counted the form lines as full contours thus erroneously inflating the climb. The actual climb to start for the Orange and up course will be 100 m.

All distances on the site map are from registration and download to their respective starts along the dashed route.

In the case of the Day 1 walk to start from registration, the road distance around Round Pond to the left and right was equidistant, so it is inconsequential which route around the pond is taken. The only difference will be your scenery. The scenery to the East of the pond is a tad bit prettier ;)

I hope that this info has helped clarify the various information provided in the meet packet.
