Hudson Valley Orienteering (HVO) is proud to announce that Geof Connor has received the Orienteering USA (OUSA)
Golden Service Award, which recognizes those individuals who have provided exceptional service to the sport of orienteering that extends beyond the local club level.
Geof was the Event Director of the 2014 Mountain Lakes "A" (national-level) event, for which he initiated the creation of the first O-map for this exciting new venue. This year, he is leading an effort to re-map Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, the site of some of the earliest orienteering in the United States, and which will be the site of the 2016 US Classic Championships. This A-event will again be held in conjunction with the Western Connecticut Orienteering Club, with Geof as the Event Director.
In addition to his volunteer work for these large events, he has helped develop e-punching capability within HVO, thereby improving the orienteering experience at our local events. He mentors our younger club members and has served on our club's board of directors for several years.
We thank OUSA for recognizing Geof for his contributions to orienteering, both locally and nationally.
