Excited.....you should be! :)
I get as far as picking the session I want to import and clicking on the little button "import selected" and then get an error:

Very nice feature, thank you Ken!
I noticed the following strange behavior:
I upload an activitiy with the gc web sync option, it displays perfectly as a new activity (correct time). When I now edit the activity (to add comments etc.) the total time (and relative times in intensities) will be wrong (the two trainings I noticed became too long).
In addition it would be nice to be able to go directly to the edit function once the training is uploaded (instead or in addition to giving a link to the map/data).
I will take a look at the issues. mikee, if you can email me the fit file for one of those activities, that will help. ("Export Original" from GC will do it.)
Yeah, thanks! Saves me a step when using Chrome!
Great, that is a nice feature.
When I uploaded activities from my FR920 from the last month, all activities got imported as Cycling
Also the list of activities to upload went back only a month, with no way to see older activities from my watch
Ken - just advising that the GC web sync doesn't seem to pull in distance for lap swimming.
The laptimes etc pull in correctly, but the summary screen for the activity show activity time, and blank for distance.
In water, no one can hear how far you went.
I am using Garmin 920XT and the pool swim distance is showing up correctly for me.
Am I the only one having problems with gc web sync the last few days?
Giving the gc credentials it just displays the login page again.
Working nicely for me - Garmin Express is an unmitigated disaster, but once I finally get the data uploaded AP brings it back down just fine.
Working for me, although I do have a nagging uneasy feeling entering my Username/pw over an unsecured connection (no HTTPS) each time...!
I'm having the same issue -- I enter the credentials and I just get back to the login page.
No upload problems here, though I will note that described behavior if I incorrectly enter password (typically on small smartphone screen - fat finger syndrome) Double check to make sure credentials are still correct?
@Psuba: you can, if you like, just add the 'https' ...
https://attackpoint.org/garmin-connect.jsp ... but maybe Ken could add https (full path) to the form action. Probably for the general site login form action would be a good idea, too.
Or just do the redirect to HTTPS at the server level instead of re-coding.
I only get the issue logging in when I hit enter instead of clicking login.
I never get an uneasy feeling about the possibility that somebody might get access to my Garmin Connect data. And if I did, I don't know how reassured I'd be by an 's'.
I will investigate the GC login issue.
As hughmac mentioned, https is available, though it is probably better/easier to use it for your whole AP session, not just for logging in.
jjcote, it is not getting access to the GC data. It is a combination of factors - that I do share that password with a few other sites (yes, I have many passwords, but not one for each website...), and the fact that that GC account has an authorised connection with a few other linked services. and so on.
It is "just" a side effect from my profession in IT I am afraid, and implementing SSL over login pages isn't that hard nowadays... Certainly easier than implementing a secure way of storing the passwords so you wouldn't have to enter it each time.
A third option would be to authorise GC connection between AP and GC similarly to how, for example, Strava or a few other services links with GC. Again, probably more complicated than slapping SSL over the login pages.
I have many passwords, but not one for each website
For the large number of not-so-sensitive sites that I have credentials, I use a password manager. Sure, that can be (and has been reportedly) a single point of failure, though that's why I only use it for lower value sites. It also makes it easier to have longer passwords and change them more frequently. And it helps avoid the shared password situation.
I do that too - but as I have to enter the GC credentials often (i.e. here on AP) and on a number of devices (some of which i.e. mobile devices don't have the password manager client on to use) I am using one of those I can remember!
The web sync works again for me. I'm not aware that I had changed anything...
I've noticed that the web sync imports my workouts with an elapsed time of endtime - starttime ('elapsed time' on GC), rather than the actual workout time (just 'time' on GC). In other words, if I stop the watch for 10 minutes in the middle of a session the session includes that time.
Yes that is strange, I noticed it too on one or two runs, but then it was fine on others. Not sure what triggers that.
Ok, I've got a seriously weird one here.

8.6km run - watch was set to auto-lap every 1km, and it said I was on the 9th lap when I finished. AP imported it via GC web sync as 13.8km, and each lap appears to be 1 *mile*. Except it's not, because I damn sure can't run 13.8km in 46 minutes. :)
I probably could if I tried hard enough so maybe you can too.
There's no correlation OR causation there. Have you considered going into politics?
If you retry that one it should import properly now.
Thanks Ken. Did you regress Australia to before we adopted the metric system or something? :)
I vote we regress Australia!
Yeah, the short version is that GC localizes its data values for some sources but AP wasn't expecting that.
The longer version is that grabbing FIT files from GC stopped working at some point, so we fall back to TCX files which are mostly fine except they don't specify pauses in the track. AP can now use some voodoo to fix that...with mixed success depending on recording interval and pause length. As an alternative I am experimenting with some other GC sources and their helpfully translated units.
Things should be mostly good for the moment. I promise to regress Australia again soon though ;)
Have you seen our government? We're doing a mighty fine job of that without any help from you guys. :)
Who's the leader of Aus today?
I think the USA trumps Oz for regression.
