Discussion: New England Challenge at Sessions Woods

Sessions Woods this Sunday, in Burlington, CT, is the second event of the New England Challenge Series. For NEOC and UNO members who have never been down to Sessions, I encourage you to consider coming. The north half of the map has lovely and fast open woods. The south half is steeper and rockier, with patches of mountain laurel, but it makes for interesting orienteering. Two different terrains in one venue!

The results computer has crashed, gobbling up splits for the present while. For now, add your splits directly to AP.

I think I may have thrown out my splits already... is there some hope of the results ever emerging from the computer, or do we think it's a lost cause? If so, I'll try and get them out of my garmin. Thanks!

Not looking good, sorry. I don't have OE and am having trouble getting Sportident Config + to run and talk to the download box. Pretty simple when things are happy but my computer fleet doesn't seem to like the high winds today.

Can you hand the box off to someone heading to Mt Tom tomorrow? I can grab the data off of it then.

Not sure anyone is coming from around here.

Certainly has been a wasted day. Sorry. And can't see any results from it. All afternoon plus much of morning spent trying to resurrect Netbook in various Safe modes - no change. Tried to get an SI program to talk to the download box. Old configuration of SI Config and no go. Tried to update but that laptop decided it didn't want to talk to the net today. Got new SI Config Plus onto iMac but that wouldn't talk to the download box at all.

All try to get to mt Tom.

George, did you have results or are you trying to rebuild them? I have printouts for Anna and Hayden if that helps at all. Don't know how to add someone else's splits to AP though. Did mine...

Sessions Woods..is this the place where they used to execute convicted witches?

I read in the news: A woman out for a walk went off the beaten path in Session Woods and stumbled upon the bear “burial” ground (a kind of "euthanized animals cemetery")???

The results for the first two events of the New England Challenge series are posted here by class. (It is a sign of the times that nearly 2/3 of all competitors are males over 50. Sigh.)

The plan is to have five events total with the best three counting for the final score. The next event in the series is June 19 at Harris Center.

Five events? I am only aware of 4 - Cemetery Hill (done), Sessions (done), Harris (next), and a CSU event in Nov? What's the fifth?

Not definite yet, but probably a NEOC event in October.
