Thanks for a really fun weekend! The terrain and courses were fun, staying at the camp was so nice and convenient, the weather was perfect and the back up prizes were still some of the best prizes we've seen!

I had a great weekend too! Thanks to all of the organizers! Are the splits from the relay posted anywhere? I saw them at the event on Saturday, but I couldn't find them on the results page or on Winpslits.

My thanks to all of the organizers. I enjoyed it all. I have a question about the voided control 5 on the Pre-O. Rule D.24.7 of the OUSA rules says that the reason for voiding a control shall be included with the provisional results. I didn't see anything about that.
While I'm fussing about the rules, I don't see anything disallowing binoculars, at least in the US rules. I haven't looked at the IOF rules.

Eyeglasses are allowed. It would be an interesting challenge to have a rule that allows eyeglasses but disallows binoculars, i.e. where do you draw the line?

TBorish - we are hoping to get the relay splits loaded to attackpoint. Apparently Winsplits didn't like them.

origamiguy - The rules say "The reason for voiding shall be announced with the provisional results." A verbal announcement was made at Massey hall (the place identified in the meet notes as the announcement spot) regarding the reason for voiding the control and I made a point of going to the competitor most affected to explain it in case he wanted to protest. We do need to put it in writing and get it on the website with the final results.

The reason was that certain reasonable sight lines led to a position for the flag that was about 4 to 5m from the actual flag position. This included at least one case in which the flag was on the opposite side of the sight line from the center of the circle. This discrepancy was greater than the published tolerance for the event.

IOF rule 21.4 "No mechanical or electronic aids, other than an odometer and a watch are allowed. A magnifying glass either incorporated in the compass or separate is allowed. Binoculars and telescopes are prohibited."
Perhaps the U.S. should update our rule to match?

Thanks for the reply, smittyo. While I'm nitpicking rules, both IOF and OUSA refer to the International Phonetic Alphabet. The IPA is not Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, etc. That's the International Radiotelephony Spelling Alphabet. The IPA is the set of characters used by linguists to transcribe the sounds of spoken languages.

I have uploaded the splits for the middle and relay events.

Didn't know that origamiguy, thanks! A little research shows that it is also known as the NATO phonetic alphabet, so maybe we can change the rules to that.
