Good runs by the Aussie 'young guns' (35s). Between the two of them they only dropped four splits by more than two seconds!

Since none of the other Australians have managed to get on here yet to blow our trumpet today, I will - Australia won no fewer than 12 (!) of the 23 gold medals on offer. This morning I'd have thought four would be a good haul. (As someone put it, if Ugly Gully were a country they would be second on the medal table).

The Australian winners were:

W35 - Anna Sheldon (also Shannon Jones 2nd)
W40 - Jo Allison
W45 - Natasha Key (also Cathy McComb 2nd, Jennifer Enderby 3rd)
W50 - Su Yan Tay
W60 - Jenny Bourne
W85 - Sue Healy
M35 - Matt Crane
M45 - Grant Bluett
M55 - Warren Key
M60 - Geoff Lawford
M70 - Greg Chatfield
M90 - Hermann Wehner

(the other Australian medallists were Bruce Arthur (3rd, M40) and Dale Ann Gordon (3rd, M75))

USA's many-times champion Sharon Crawford (W70), who took bronze in both the sprint and the long at WMOC this year, was interviewed for a news article in the Daily Summit (Colorado, her home state), about orienteering and her time in New Zealand. There are photos of her with her medals, and of her bungee jumping!
