What is the course information for all of the courses, both Saturday and Sunday?

We are expecting heavy rain Thursday and showers on Friday. Saturday should be great weather, but we could have more showers on Sunday.

Be prepared. Vasquez Rocks is usually windy, so expect the rain to be horizontal.

Is there a live feed for results available?

Itzel, I'm dying to know, too. But I guess it is something we should have asked earlier as everyone connected with the event is probably out in the park right now.
But not many orienteering clubs have a Blaik Mathews in their midst so live feeds are a long shot.

No live results. We had some technical issues today getting all the displays working, but eventually got it figured out. Western Race Services is calculating the team scoring and will be posting splits to Attackpoint and then sending me the results files to post on LAOC site and they will also be sent to Troy.

Split times are very telling. What the heck happened with so many at control 10 on the varsity male course on Saturday?

A combination of miscommunication and an LAOC public event at Vasquez today delayed the results posting. We're working on it now.

Thank you for posting the results AND the course maps.
It puzzles me why so many cadets had so much trouble. The courses look straight forward.
I looked at that Saturday Green course #10 which gave so many so much trouble trouble. Seemed pretty simple if you enlarged the control by finding the ridge first.

Without having actual tracks I can only hazard a guess. I watched runners leaving the start for a short while on Saturday. It was apparent that most were not reading the brown. They were bouncing from rock to rock, hoping to stumble on their control. I think it's very easy on this map to get suckered into thinking you're going to navigate off of the rocks. But there are far too many parallel cliffs for that to work. Best guess is that a lot of kids didn't go far enough south and were looking in the terrain north of the cliffs instead of on the ridge. If you were in the right place, that was a highly visible control.

I learned on Monday morning that there was actually a misplaced control on Sunday. This was control 102 (#2 on Orange A and #3 on Orange B). The control had been placed at a tag that was for our public White course for Monday. The original tag was still in place at the intended control location, but it said 202 (since it was a day 2 control). It looks from the splits like this may have caused a few top competitors to lose a few minutes. I'm just surprised that no one reported it. We had no complaints or protests. It's hard for me to believe that someone didn't realize that wasn't the mapped/described position. Perhaps they just felt that it didn't cost them enough and it would be better to keep the courses valid?

I've been to that place. It's really hard.
