On Feb 6 it was announced on Facebook that ICO (Indiana Crossroads Orienteering) was going to have their annual rogaining event on Saturday March 28, 2020. It's a 6-hr and 12-hr event in the hills of southern Indiana.

That's on the same date of day 1 of the Raccoongaine event. You will need a Star Trek tele-transporter to do both.

follow-up: being told it was announced on Facebook on Nov 7, 2019.

Missed the memo.

Which is why AP is so helpful when events are added as soon as they are planned. Now I am just hoping the Fools Rogaine(if they have it) isn't the same day as Crooked Compass.

If not six hours, what is the appropriate driving distance at which co-scheduled events are okay?!

My dear Mr. Wonderful,

your question reminds me of a tele-transportation feat of 10+ years ago, when me and a racing partner did this in the time span of 24 hours

- participated in a AR (adventure racing) sprint, called TURFF by GrassRoots Racing, from 8 AM to 12 noon, downtown in the city, that involved running, cycling, kayaking.
- washed up and ate some lunch
- drove 40 miles to the mountains and went caving
- washed up and ate some dinnr
- drove to Blue Spruce county park and did a Night Orienteering event.
- now past midnight, we started driving back home, stopped at Dean's Diner for apple pie and vanilla ice cream a-la-mode.

we got back home at 4 AM. That's getting close to a 24-hr multi-discipline adventure race.

Crooked Compass conflicts with the S,M,L Champs, for those of us who lean more towards regular orienteering. I'll do one of them, just have to figure out which! We enjoyed the CC last year.

I don't think it's too big a problem to conflict with something that regularly sells out. They're just offering an alternative for those who didn't get in before the start list filled up!

Sounds like a pretty sweet day, Sherpes!

I'm with Peggy. I really like the Rootstock events, but S-M-L offers 3 days of racing. Yet to decide.

Not that either race is better but CC actually has more racing (~25 mi of course). S/M/L maybe has 20 mi when you add up all three events (assuming the longest course for each). CC has just conveniently packed it all into one day.

btw... I will be at Crooked Compass on April 3 ... 10-hr of mountain slopes is fine with me.

CC can't call itself a US champs though. I will be sad to miss it.
