Four training courses are now available at Huntington SP. Flags are in the woods:

Start/Finish at the Sunset Hill Road parking lot:
- Red 8.5km - Two alternatives: 10,000 scale on legal sized paper or 7,500 scale on overlapping letter sized
- Green 5.5km - 10,000 scale on letter sized paper
- Brown 3.8km - 7,500 scale on letter sized paper

Start/Finish at the Dodgingtown Road parking lot:
- Bonus 3.9km course in the best HSP terrain - 7,500 scale on letter sized paper

All maps are set to print on letter sized paper, except for one version of the Red course as noted. There are no control codes at the control flags. Remote start/finish is used to encourage proper social distancing in the vicinity of the parking lots.

We have also reposted, on the WCOC page, Winter/Spring Series style courses on the Five Ponds map (Litchfield, CT) and the Hurd State Park map (East Hampton, CT). For each map there are 4 options, a map consisting of all the permanent controls, and maps for a long, medium, and short course using the permanent markers. (The Five Ponds courses are the WS courses from 2019; the Hurd courses are the WS courses from 2020.)

The maps can be found at:

The Huntington SP courses have standard orienteering flags at the controls.

The Five Ponds and Hurd SP courses use permanent controls. The control features are designated by permanent control markers, 6” x 6”, mounted about 5’ high on trees close to the features with the markers facing the feature.

Flags are now out at Ward Pound Ridge. There are Blue/Red/Green/Brown courses - almost identical to the 2016 US Championships Day 2.

Maps are at

WPR can be busy at weekends.
They charge $10 per car everyday after 9.00a.m.

Geof - rough estimate of how long the flags will stay out at WPR? I added it to the OUSA DIY map. Want to know when to remove the pin..

Ran Huntington last Sunday and had a blast - off to ward pond today! I would say when we arrived at Huntington there was a sign that said prk closed but I spoke to a ranger who turned up after I parked and before I left and she confirmed that if you find a parking spot you are fine so I need not have worried. I figure they close it once it gets to capacity but I don’t think this would have stopped us from parking elsewhere and running into the park.

Back from Ward Pond and had a great time. Worth noting that the $10 fee ends at 4.30pm in case anyone fancies an evening training session. Park was busy but not terrible.

Just got back from Pound Ridge. Nice day. Nice course. And got them all this time.

Park not busy at all. A couple other cars, one jogger passed me on a short section of trail. Otherwise saw no one but Lyn as we went back and forth, misdirecting each other.

Hey there does anyone know where I can get a copy of Tourne County Park NJ? Ive streamered half of the most recent old blue/red course and will probably add the rest tonight that HVO ran and I was thinking I'd add this to the list of courses folks can run.

I have Tourne map files for several events...
For which event do you have the course?

Unfortunately I don't know the year - maybe the last one we did? I have streamered the red course (finished last night). If you have more than one red I'd take whatever you have.

@jeremy: Plz take a pic of the course map and e-mail it to me.

The last event HVO held there was on Saturday, April 18, 2015. There were both Red (5.63k, 220m, 15c) and Blue (6.43k, 240m, 18c) courses.
