WorldofO's Route to Christmas is a real treat. Does anyone know of other sites or resources for the same purpose? I'm talking about a technical analysis for route choices with explanations on "why taking this route is the better choice". Also, in a general point of view - is there any structured curriculum (can be a book, site, etc.) for guidelines in choosing the right route?

Thanks and Merry X-mas everyone!

The last time this came up several web resources turned up, including some created by my brother Knut Wiig Mathisen when he was coaching 16-23 year olds.

Google translate can probably help but afair we did translate a few of the texts the last time?

Three of the videos in OUSA's Techniques video series specifically deal with route choice. The full playlist can be found on our YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP_Y_pqevNE&li...

I'm sure route choice is also covered in the new online curriculum that went live this fall but I have not personally reviewed it yet. Access to this online content is a free benefit of OUSA membership.

Wassili Burtzev discusses the topic in a scientific (mathematical) way in a small booklet. It is published in Russian and in an edition from 2011 in German (“Rätsel und Entdeckungen auf den Wegen des Orientierungsläufers - Elemente der Theorie des Orientierungslaufes“). In English, the title would be something like “Elements of the Theory of Orienteering“.

Do you know by any chance where a copy of this book is available (in german)? I've searched the internet and couldn't find anything.
Many thanks.

I bought this during an O-event in Germany from one of the O-shops. I'm not sure from which one. Maybe OL-Shop Conrad https://ol-shop-conrad.de/. Just send him an e-mail and ask ... ;-)
