BAOC's Juniors Director, Dan Ingram, teaches orienteering at Carson High School in Carson City, Nevada. He's also the coach of the Carson NJROTC team and has started the Carson Senators Orienteering Club. He asked me to pos this on Attackpoint for those who are interested in helping.
I have an opportunity to receive a grant from $5000 to $10,000. I submitted a video that outlined my need for a class project to the Dolan Auto Group here in Reno, NV. Voting on the videos is currently taking place until October 21, 2022. For my project I let them know that the biggest need for my orienteering class is the development of actual orienteering maps in our local area. Being able to have orienteering maps of our areas will allow the students to go out and do orienteering in the manner it is designed. My plan is to have the students actually go out with the map maker and assist with identifying and plotting distinct features that need to be added to the maps. Another great thing about this is that it can generate a lot of community outreach in that we can hold orienteering meets that can teach more people about orienteering and at the same time bring in people to our communities boosting the economy etc. To help me get the grant, I need people to vote for my project, so please click on the link below and scroll down until you see my video (you'll recognize the shirt) and vote for me. If you feel like copying and pasting this and emailing it out to others, I would greatly appreciate that as well. Thank you! -Dan Ingram-
