BAOC's Juniors Director, Dan Ingram, teaches orienteering at Carson High School in Carson City, Nevada. He's also the coach of the Carson NJROTC team and has started the Carson Senators Orienteering Club. He asked me to pos this on Attackpoint for those who are interested in helping.

I have an opportunity to receive a grant from $5000 to $10,000. I submitted a video that outlined my need for a class project to the Dolan Auto Group here in Reno, NV. Voting on the videos is currently taking place until October 21, 2022. For my project I let them know that the biggest need for my orienteering class is the development of actual orienteering maps in our local area. Being able to have orienteering maps of our areas will allow the students to go out and do orienteering in the manner it is designed. My plan is to have the students actually go out with the map maker and assist with identifying and plotting distinct features that need to be added to the maps. Another great thing about this is that it can generate a lot of community outreach in that we can hold orienteering meets that can teach more people about orienteering and at the same time bring in people to our communities boosting the economy etc. To help me get the grant, I need people to vote for my project, so please click on the link below and scroll down until you see my video (you'll recognize the shirt) and vote for me. If you feel like copying and pasting this and emailing it out to others, I would greatly appreciate that as well. Thank you! -Dan Ingram-

I watched the video and looked for a way to vote but just like my orienteering today I could not find it.
What is the way to vote?

If you click on Dan's picture, you get the video on a page with a big green "Vote Now" button. You may have clicked through to the YouTube page; that won't work. Probably have to accept their cookies, too.

I did accept the cookies. I did click on the photo. I did get one option so I viewed. I did not get n option to Vote Now. I hope others try and succeed.

Maybe voting isn't available in Canada? I didn't get a "Vote" button either.

That seems to be the case. Everyone in my family was able to vote but the button went away when I turned on my VPN and pretended to be in Canada.

Interesting. Thanks for trying.

We don't use VPN with our rural Internet but urban Canadians could probably "relocate" themselves and vote.

I'll resist the chance to make a joke about rigged elections and just say that I plan to be travelling in the States on the 21st -the deadline day for voting- so I will vote then.
Besides helping a fellow orienteer I like the part where Chief Ingram says he would bring a mapper to Carson City in part to teach his students how to make orienteering maps.

Here's the result from Dan Ingram. He doesn't have an account on Attackpoint yet.

Thanks to everyone who voted I was one of the 13 who won the $5000 initially, I was not the big winner, but it definitely brought a lot of support from around the states even support from one orienteer who has already created some base maps for me so that we will only need to pay for field work etc.
