Many kudos to Clint Morse, who mapped, set courses, put out controls, and organized the Team Trials on UConn campus! It was a huge job, and I thought it came off great. The map was really good, the courses were fun, and it felt like a big important event, even though there were only about 50 participants.

Thank you Clint for all your work! I appreciate it as an orienteer, and perhaps even more so as the team’s ESC chair and a WOC selector. Really fun and fair.

I also appreciated how many of our young orienteers participated, regardless of category, including some for their first urban sprints. What a great opportunity to be introduced to this format in a high-quality event. Thank you, Clint and all who helped out.

Would love to see the map and courses in some format or other. Looks like great racing from many on the US Team

I used to imagine an NRE put on singlehandedly by one person, from making the basemap to fieldwork to course setting to all of the day-of tasks, and this is as close as I think we'll ever see. Bravo!

The women's course I've looked at is definitely up there amongst the better campus sprint courses I've seen - a lot of the North American sprint courses I've seen before are relatively easy technically but this one definitely wasn't.

Thank you so much, Clint, for all your hard work on the maps and courses. I had a blast out there with so many interesting route choices.

It gave all of us plenty to discuss later about different routes.

Awesome work Clint!

I've begun posting pictures from the 2 events. There are plenty more to post, so just check back over the coming days if you're looking for a particular image.

...and Clint did the courses without any fake purple?

I used olive green - mulch was OOB.... and UConn just gussied up campus for commencement the week before.. (with a few new and unmapped bits)

But you didn't add any mulch yourself just to create route choice puzzles.

Quite true...

And I'd also like to this opportunity to point out that this was not entirely a solo endeavor. I would like extend my sincerest thanks to my crew who helped make this such a successful day - many of them wearing multiple hats over the course of the days activites.

Jon, Tori & Peter Campbell, Peggy Dickison & Nadim Ahmed, Rick & Suzie Dewitt, JJ Cote & Nancy Duprey, Ellen & Anna Morse, Chris Fielding, Phil Bricker, Steve Richardson, Joe Brautigam, Steve Tarry. (apologies if I missed anyone)

Evalin Brautigam for consulting on courses, Carl Underwood for test running the courses.

Meghan Moriarity & Olivia for allowing us to use the EEB Greenhouses for our AM venue. Kate Copeland with UConn Events for coordinating communications with public safefy, facilities management, parking services.

First round of photos from the Individual and Relay events have been posted over on Orienteering USA Facebook. Will probably add more as crowd sourced images come to my attention.
