Discussion: MeOS for rogaining

I was unable to figure this out before our event and still am unable to figure out. Maybe someone has experience with using MeOS for rogaines?

I defined my CPs as rogaine CPs but get an error message when I add them to the course using either their "control names" or "punch codes". The error message on the bottom of the Courses tab is "Banan saknar rogainingkontroller". Is there a checkbox somewhere to designate the course as a rogaine course?

After the download, competitors all show up with "Points" field grayed out.

I found it! there is this extra indirection level in CP definition (a third tag for CP in addition to SI pattern and CP ID) that is being used. Very appropriate!

"Banan saknar rogainingkontroller". Awesome.

...which means: The course is missing (does not have any) rogaining controls...

Spent some time. Still can't figure out how to export the splits. All I get in the XML export is <SplitTime status="Additional"> and no actual times at which the competitor punched.

Rogaining splits are fairly meaningless anyway. You cannot really compare them to others.

Tundra/Desert:
Indeed, but you can export them to something else that will show checkpoint order for all teams.

I guess, then if you have a program like The Beaten Track or Routegadget, you could upload splits to that and let teams draw courses and watch the action!

Yes. If only for a small problem: I don't know how to export the splits.

I'm assuming that this doesn't work?

Correct. If I do the export in XML 3.0, for each competitor I get each CP, not just the ones they visited, with <SplitTime status="Additional"> and no actual times at which the competitor punched. If I do it in XML 2.0.3, I don't get that or any splits, I only get the start time and the finish time.

But you have the Rogaine results report working OK - something like this ?

Tundra/Desert:
Yes. How can I export this to IOF-XML?

Tedious scripting, but that does "show checkpoint order for all teams" I think.

Here is a note regarding the export function for Rogaine splits, that was relayed by Erik Melin, who wrote the software.

"That you get no time for rogaining punches is a bug. It will be fixed in the next MeOS release. If requested, I can provide a snapshot where this issue is fixed."

Thanks so much, Ross! I ended up script-hand-processing the splits of our latest event. I hope to not have to do it again.
