Hurd 111515 Course Notes

A brand new map! New LIDAR data giving 5m contours and 1:10000 scale, field checked during summer/fall of 2015. Very enjoyable area with a dense network of old stone walls and new mt bike trails. The woods are very open with good running in the area of the courses except for a barberry patch in a central section that can easily be avoided.

Courses for the meet are as follows (subject to change):

White 1.3k 7 Controls
Yellow 2.6k 6 Controls
Brown 3.6k 8 Controls
Green 4.0k 8 Controls
Red 6.7k 8 Controls

Pretty standard stuff really except a possible twist for training purposes. Twist - Bring your GPS watch and see how close to the OCAD measured distance you can run while not being confused by stone walls and trails.

Update - Directions *****************

A 5k road race is scheduled for 10:00 Sunday 11/15 from Portland to Middletown over the bridge and through streets in Middletown. Rt 9 in Middletown is normally congested and this will make things worse. Rt 66 through the town may be blocked for a period.

We have found the best is to avoid 91/9 and cross the river at Hartford to Rt 2 south to Rt 17 till it hits Rt 66. Then proceed as directed.
