The event is a mountain bike navigational event (MTB Orienteering) using a map that rates trails for speed. The Half Gear Grinder is on 11*17 paper at 1:10,000 scale and the Gear Grinder is on 11*17 paper at 1:15,000 scale.

Mini Gear Grinder- 4-4.5 miles, on easier paths where a hybrid bike might be okay.

Awards to top in division:
Half Gear Grinder - ~7-8 miles. ~55 minutes winning time.
Full Gear Grinder - ~90 minning winning time. ~12 miles real distance (lots of climb).

Divisions: U19, 19-39, 40+ M/F

Schedule:
Registration opens at 7:30AM.
8:45 - Full Gear Grinder: Pre-race briefing, starts soon after
9:45- The Half Gear Grinder: Pre-race briefing, starts soon after

The Mini Gear Grinder will be open at 10AM

Make a weekend out of it: DVOA will have a Foot orienteering event on Sunday at adjacent French Creek, and GOALS ARA will have a sprint adventure race on Sunday about 75 minutes south.
