World Rogaining Championships at Lake Tahoe California postponed from 2020.
The World Rogaining Championships competition area is about 120 km^2 in size located in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range north of Lake Tahoe, in California. The average altitude in the area is around 2300m, the highest point is 2625m, and the lowest point is about 1760m. Topography varies significantly but is mostly hilly with some very steep and some flatter areas and deep ravines. Snow covers the area for 6-7 months of the year which contributes to the forest being mostly open and runnable but with some patches of thick vegetation. The forest ranges from open grassy areas to mainly pine forest and some outcrops of loose rocks. The area contains a significant road and trail network and a popular ski resort (Northstar) which is busy in the summer with mountain bikers. Streams in the area will be mostly low during the summer.
