Organizers of Raid the North Extreme, one of the world’s longest-running expedition races, have announced details of its 8th edition for 2011. Teams participating in the classic wilderness race will explore BC’s West Kootenay through the week of July 23 to 31, 2011.

Over 6 days non-stop, day & night, adventure athletes in co-ed teams of four will navigate a 500km+ expedition over an unmarked route through the rugged and historic West Kootenay by trekking, paddling, mountain biking and using fixed ropes.

BC’s West Kootenay is an adventure racer’s paradise; a pristine region of rivers, lakes and waterfalls; alpine meadows and jagged now-capped mountains; beaches and hot springs. The race will feature significant alpine travel, with wildflowers at their peak, water levels will be high and fun, and racers will enjoy the long days and warm temperatures of summer.
