Map: Lover's Lane 1:10,000, 5m contours. (2011)
The map terrain is unique to WA with rolling and steep spur gully terrain. Extensive prospecting and mining of quartzite has left terrain more akin to the Victorian goldfields than Western Australia. In addition there are a number of areas of complex granite. Most of the map is very runnable, with sections of cleared or semi-cleared grazing land particularly for the Middle Distance area. However areas of mining activity can be very slow running due uneven rocky surfaces and some regrowth. Steeper areas on most courses can be avoided through judicious route choice.

Areas marked with small brown dots have been disturbed by bull dozer activity and very rough underfoot – watch your ankles when crossing these areas. Green crosses on the map are very distinct tree root mounds 1.0 to 2m in height.

Substantial reduction in climb can be achieved on hard courses through careful route choice.
