Welcome To My Log

I've been logging on attackpoint since 03/26/2012. For training logs that predate that you'll have to check out my old blog.


In my old logs you'll see that I was focused on powerlifting and strongman training with a later emphasis on kettlebells. You'll also see that in late 2007, early 2008 I severly herniated a lumbar disc. What I was training for and that I got hurt that bad were the most formative experiences of my training life in the 2000's and are among the top five or ten formative experiences of my life in general for that decade.


I'm turning over a new leaf. In late 2011 I decided it was time to start to train fro something (until then I was just training with no real purpose). I spent a long weekend googling for ideas. I eneded up thinking abou jujitsu or mud runs. Mud runs were far more accessable. I signed up for the 2012 Tough Mudder. As I began to train for that I also found out about orienteering and adventure racing. I ended up deciding I truly liked those and wanted to continue. I eneded up not competing in that initial Tough Mudder due to slicing my thumb open with a razor that week. I don't yet know if that's something I'll eventually circle back and complete.


At the time of writing this update (07/30/2012) I've competed in one AR with a second on the calendar and done three O meets. I'm really enjoying them . I'm attempting to focus my training for those events but not entirely leave behind the weightroom that I also enjoy.
