Mourne Skyliner in Northern Ireland. Felt apprehensive about this race due to lack of training (late entry courtesy of Shane) and huge amount of ascent for this distance. Listening to the news about Iraq and Syria on the way made me appreciate the opportunity to travel and run in the mountains. So just went out with the aim of enjoying it. The weather wasn't as nice as forecast so the first high section was cold and wet. Waterproof went on. Gloves were on all day. After the dam/food station it cleared up and the rest was great. I paced it well and even felt I was holding my own on the slippery descents for a change. Thought I was on for sub 6 hours and worked hard on the final long descent. Missed out by 5s but who cares really? 10th woman and 80/202 overall.
