Running 44:06 [2] 7.2 km (6:08 / km) +237m 5:16 / km

Just an easy one as I've been feeling a bit off since last night. Legs are dead, think i'm gonna put emphasis on rest this weekend. Running ain't fun at the moment.

Not a bad route although made the mistake of venturing into a testosterone fueled field of well hench rams. Won't be doing that again.

LOC Tech race #4 - Claiffe North

Really enjoyed the first 10 controls. Made a couple of 20/30 seconders but no big blunders. Head was in the game. Then we got to the classic lakes steep sided craggy bouldery mess. 11 I'm sure was too far down the slope, anyway saw it from a distance so only a minute lost. Then 12 was a classic nemesis control site, vague platform on a steep vague slope that turns slight misses into massive faffy nightmares. Bumbled around for a bit and then hit the control, 1m30 lost. Then more faffing on the steep slopes dropping down at pace losing another 30 seconds being too scared to overshoot. Concentrated on compass on 14 and nailed it, woo. Then to 15.

Where to start with 15. I had a good line, back over the top of 12 and then up and over the steeper section of slope and over the big boy crag then contoured round to where I thought the control would be. As I got there the map just didn't really fit. Crags absolutely everywhere. Our control site was meant to be the highest of the crags. Saw Rebekah Beadle looking confused and then a couple more searching below. I circled the area. And then again. I went high and found the path. Found out where I was and bearing back down. Nope, still not there. Then came Phil, oh balls even Phil has caught me up. We looked for a bit more. Then came John Ockenden. Eventually about 12 of us were circling the area. Nothing fit. We were just about to give up when we heard a yell from below from Rebekah. Jesus Christ, what a palava. Then I reluctantly lead the herd through the green and the last 3 controls to the finish.

The winsplits make for good viewing: http://obasen.orientering.se/winsplits/online/en/d...

The fastest time from 14-15 was 5:08 by Bilbo. The next was Tom Gibbs who from the splits was following. Then the third fastest time was 9:19! I wasn't quite the slowest but I did manage to double my running time.

AAC Uphill Champs. Was feeling okay at the start but just don't have much confidence in the legs at the moment so wasn't really sure how I would go. Started at 1 min intervals and the route was from NDG to Pavey Ark in Langdale. I had Ben 1 min behind and although I set off fairly conservatively I could feel my legs starting to fade. He caught me at halfway and soul destroyingly went past me like I wasn't moving. I struggled on to the top but had to walk bits.

I feel 100 miles away from where I was last autumn. I'm sure the form will come, I've been running on the hills again for a couple of months now, I'm just starting to get impatient/lose belief.

On a positive note Ben won by about 3 mins so at least we have our
talisman back!

On Scout Scar. Everything still tight. Need to put more time into stretching. Starting to worry about R Achilles. Doesn't feel right.
