Jog to the start of SOL 3 and some jogging about trying to get the legs and breathing working.

SOL 3 at Dunachtonmore. Really enjoyable run in a lovely area.

A bit of pressure with Bob D starting 3mins in front and Reiver starting 3mins behind me (why does this keep happening?) but just did enough to win the M55 / 60 race, however well beaten (again!) by some very speedy youngsters. Breathing still not 100% so struggled on the up-hills but did fairly well. Not happy to make 3 errors though.

6 - 7 Went to the south of the straight line and followed the marsh towards the control. Climbed up from the marsh too early and stopped short of the control. Took some time to sort out what I'd done and then headed on to the control. 30 secs lost.

9 - 10 Came over the hill on line but was slightly too far left of the pit and went too far down the hillside. Had to climb back up the hill back to the pit. 1min lost. Took the next 4 controls in the intricate area very carefully and got them all without any problems.

15 - 16 Embarassing miss at 16 when I came through the crossing at the deer fence and headed in the slightly wrong direction. Realised when I hit the wrong hill, corrected myself and then proceeded to run past the control. Can't believe I only lost 30 - 40 secs.

Linwood Parkrun. Hard work to produce such a slow time. Still not great.

Note

One of Mrs P's former colleagues (who obviously didn't like her) bought her a voucher for a 2 hour shot of a 2 person kayak on Loch Lomond as a retirement present. We thrashed about and managed to stay afloat but didn't get very far and after 70 minutes Mrs P called it a day as her arms were too tired to continue so we headed back to shore. Fairly miserable experience which confirmed to me that I'm definitely not suited to water sports!

Very lucky escape today at work during the storm when a massive tree fell across a road I was driving along seconds after I passed! Scary!
