Note

Rather labour intensive mornings carrying heavy buckets of soil.

16km with 650m vertical
Up to Le Plan then followed the river up. Ended up doing some hike-a-bike when the path got too narrow. Then back along the high Chalet Blanche track. Bit longer than intended but felt okay and couldn't help following my nose for a bit. Always manage to keep a lower energy output when mountain biking rather than on the road so hopefully will be in shape to go again come Thursday.

Ride down to Flumet, played about 90 minutes of football then back up to La Giettaz. Feeling the tiredness more today and the climb back up seemed harder than before. Proper rest tomorrow.

~5h hike 17km with 1600m vertical.
Exploring Chamonix. Went pretty much straight up the VK route which felt easy for the first 10 switchbacks or so then turned into a grind further up. The biggest hindrance was my legs which started to complain with the steep uphill. Didn't have too much of a plan where I wanted to go after that so followed my nose and ended up at Col du Brévent. Left he path and scrambled along some boulders and néve towards Aguilles Rouges which was stunning and super fun. Dropped down to another path via some more névé and traversed back down through the forest to ice cream in Chamonix.
Haven't had such a good day out in the past 18 months and so encouraging to do this and finish tired but the right kind of tired. Even managed to run some downhill sections, maybe 8 minutes in total.

Walked uphill for ~20minutes, read then back down. Would have prefer not to have to rest today but logistically it's how it turned out to be able to have a wee adventure in Chamonix tomorrow.
