Surreys Hills Race route - missed out on the race earlier in the summer so fancied it
Not feeling good to start off with and chest felt quite tight but figured I'd get into it, which I did. Going pretty well up to Leith and enjoyed the long descent. A brief stop of the watch on the way up to Leith Tower because of cows on the path, they were friendly though and didn't seem bothered by me. Wanted to try an alternative ballsy line straight up Holmbury but ended up backfiring and got stuck in some horrible rhododendrons and brambles, lost a couple of mins maybe which was frustrating and caused stingy legs for the rest of the run but now I know never to try that again. Rest of it was all pretty sound. I didn't take a map so there were a couple of points where it took me a few moments to remember the route but got it all right without much faffage. Had bit of a stitch at the end and was also grinding a little but I didn't take food or drink and had work earlier in the day so plenty of reasons why I could go a little faster, which is nice because I'm quite happy with that time. In 2017 race I ran 2.15.33 and 2016 race 2.25.55.
