Failed paddle. Took my shoes as I was going to drop the boat off over near Black mountain and go for a run up the hill. But I ended up hitting a log with the rudder at some speed and couldn't turn using the rudder. I managed to turn it around and paddle back to a gap in the reeds to get out and inspect the damage. The rudder had bent back and pushed up through the bottom of the boat. The boat was already half full of water and took ages to try and empty. I pulled the rudder back out and used a tinny piece of tape to part cover the hole. The shortest route back was to paddle straight across to the other side of the lake (at max speed before it sunk) and carry the boat back. On the plus side I had some shoes with me!
