Right calf quite tight from yesterday so a bit of a cautious one As it happened everything felt fine the whole time. Almost entirely on grass and did a bit less climb than I'd originally planned to take it easy on the calf

To the track from uni. About a mile further than I'd remembered it being

Road Running intervals 22:24 [5] 3.55 mi (6:19 / mi)
shoes: Asics DS Trainer #2

5X1km on the track. Painful stuff. Very windy back straight made things difficult. Aiming for 3:12s. Nailed it on the first one but started to die after that. Might be achievable on a nicer day.

Legs feeling pretty ok after yesterday. Keeping fairly sheltered since the weather was wild. Finished in sunshine but had driving hail at one point. Good test for the new jacket

shoes: Inov 8 X-talon 212 #3

First champs race. Pretty tough going. Set off a wee bit hard on the climb. Moving well until the steeper stuff towards the top of the first summit. Had been going with Al Anthony until there and he flew away. Got going again once it flattened out and was shifting well to the summit (apart from a couple of fairly spectacular falls in the mud). Turned to shit on the way down. Started ok but slipped and hamstrings cramped a bit. Every time I got going again I just slipped and fell in the mud. Quickly lost all confidence and really struggled in.

Positive stuff from the climb. Fitness is definitely there. Not far behind Dessie and ahead of Kenny and some other decent runners. Decent needs work but that was bog unlike anything I've ever seen. The slippy stuff is definitely my least favourite sort of downhill. Just have no confidence

Hill Running 12:00 [1] 1.27 mi (9:27 / mi) +21m 8:59 / mi
