Had a bit more time to start building up the length of my rides also now with edition of hills. The main hill was brutal and probably had more of an effect on me than I realized.
Punctured at 40km, was pretty bad so couldn't fix it with a patch (will take a spare tube next time). Luckily a very kind man stopped and gave me a new tube just as I was phoning for my dad to pick me up.
Once back on my bike I had a horrible headwind all the way back home and it was a slight incline. Only took a gel so bonked pretty bad although I could have got away with it if I wasn't out an hour longer than anticipated because of all the faff around the puncture.

Footpath closed so had to cross through town over busy roads which was a big issue towards the end (probably could have gained 5+ seconds minimum). Definitely found the limit of what I can run outside of an actual race scenario. Also had Dulcie cycling alongside not really pacing more just providing motivation.
Lesson learnt: Last time I tapered too much. I think my body prefers to stay at reasonable volume and doesn't like the big change to routine so a taper of 3 days is ideal.
