Monday Jan 23 #

Combined trail & road 36:10 [3] 8.57 km (4:13 / km) +72m 4:03 / km
shoes: Adidas Adios Black 2

4km easy, 4km moderate. Tried super hard to do what Duncan told me - run off my forefoot, land more underneath my body, use my arms more. I seemed to manage it ok and under scrutiny of my reflection in various shop windows I saw, mimic the mincing style of that other Scotsman - though there the similarities end. Found it quite hard to do this downhill as I pick up speed quickly. Very Little / no pain in Achilles or bum - but it's far too early to get excited. Exceptionally cold, wet and quite icy outside.

Calves still very stiff (during walking) from my raises on Friday but ok running. Did a load more when I finished.

Sunday Jan 22 #

Combined trail & road 46:37 [1] 8.52 km (5:28 / km) +95m 5:11 / km
shoes: Adidas Tempo

45' Easy with Emily around the housing estates of my youth. I used to run then, too - but in those days it was to avoid getting my fucking head kicked in.

Saturday Jan 21 #

Combined trail & road 42:53 [1] 7.52 km (5:42 / km) +120m 5:17 / km
shoes: Adidas Tempo

40' easy with Emily in Edinburgh. Calves very stiff from Duncan's (failed) attempts to test them to failure yesterday.

Friday Jan 20 #

Note

Physio session with Duncan. He assessed my arse and leg and didn't seem too concerned. No running today as travelling pretty much all day.

Thursday Jan 19 #

Road Running 30:06 [2] 5.95 km (5:04 / km)
shoes: Adidas Tempo

30' easy. Not quite Shackleton cold but getting there. Opened the taps a couple of times to remind myself of the achilles / arse pain so I can describe it to doctor spoon in the morning.

Wednesday Jan 18 #

Road Running 35:00 [3] 6.8 km (5:09 / km) +50m 4:58 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 225

35' easy. Not actually sure how far or long I went as, for the first time ever, I forgot my watch. Needless to say, it was neither far, fast, nor pain-free.
