Much better effort than yesterday. I was knackered on the last 3rd.
#3 3 mins binned. Parallel error. Didn’t notice the pond on the path I was on. Thought I was higher on an elephant track.
#10 90 secs. Slowed down. Was unsure of the Boulder cos I was focused on the wrong sheep enclosure.
#11 90 secs. Too low. Thought it was on the same contour as the wall corner. (I could see it from #10! Stupid.)
#13 30secs. Climbed and should have gone around. The lad in front that went around put some distance on me.
8mins of mistakes, but pretty happy even so.
Winner Alistair Landel 51mins. (Barrable did 46mins in M45)

Not brilliant. Started steady and kept it that way. I knew it’d be a slog and didn’t want to do the usual blow up at the end. Some 30-60 secs faffing looking inside the control circle. But the huge mistake came at 4. I smashed the execution to it, but left it thinking I was at 5. Headed to 6. Realised halfway and about turned. Pegged to 5 to find about 5 people (that increased to about 7) milling around searching for it. I basically stood for 3/4 mins hoping someone would find it. Someone had and I missed it. Eventually I did some searching. I’d say 5-6 mins binned here. Other than that I just need to work harder.
NB there’s no way I’d get close to Alistair Landels 61
NNB. Hope there’s a routegadget. I was caught by my 2 mins starter at 5. Love to see his approach to 4.
O down The Gare with Kendal, Eadie and Dad before me and Kendal watched Guisborough v Bishop Auckland in the FA Cup.

Made a random decision late in the day to do some O at South Gare. Mike Hardy gave me this map four years ago and had been excited to run on it since. The Gare is AWESOME. Got to be CLOK's best area??
Made a huge mistake at 4. (Knew where I was, but I couldn't find (think it was overgrown ) the path. The rest was just tricky cos I was really making the effort to find the exact feature.
I love The Gare. It's industrial history at its best.
NB. Found out it's probably going to be the venue of the CompassSport Cup Final next September.....rightly so.
Running 31:39 5.16 km (6:08 / km) +190m 5:11 / km
Strides on Lovers Ledge, before watching Guisborough get smashed by Middlesbrough at rugby. But they gave a decent account of themselves with Boro a division higher.
NB. Lockdown meant there was a bit of a fitness craze in the UK. This seems to have completely collapsed as a huge number of paths and MTB trails are completely grown over with bramble and bracken. This never used to happen here.
Running 28:16 5.32 km (5:19 / km) +59m 5:02 / km
2miles Steady, then last mile slow with Kendal. Around my old double day loop of Hutton Estate.
NB. Took Kendal on a visit of Durham University......SOLD! I think the next four years has given her some focus. University College Castle impressed her with some of the building built in 1080 and a dining hall that makes Harry Potter's look like a Cracker Barrel.
NNB. CWG has been fantastic. Women's 10,000m was great tonight (as was the Men's last night)t. Didn't realise Kenya had absentees in Eugene due to visa issues.
