Note
(sick)
Seem to have come down with a rather awful flu. Probably explains why the event on Wednesday felt so physically tough!
Orienteering Racing race 1:08:13 [4] 11.5 km (5:56 / km)
ahr:162 max:183 shoes: IOV8 - Roclite 290
MLS Bulford Ridge - Brown
Physically tough course. I felt pretty exhausted from quite early on and my navigation was not as good as it should have been. My main aim today was to focus on flow in and out of the control.
First error came at number 3 - over shot the area of wood and chose a rather green way back to the control.
Route choice was poor at 15 leading to missing the control. I thought it was in a shallow depression but was in fact on a path. Highlighted the importance of using the control descriptions.
19 to 20 I missed a small path marked on the map which could have saved me 2 minutes and lot of energy!
Some good lessons learnt. Definitely need to get the balance between moving fast into and out of the control but also checking the small detail on the map and improving my route choice.
Technical O training 30:00 [0]

HIIT work out
3*4* ( 20sec hard, 10sec easy) 1min rest
HIIT was a bit short for me.
Intresting to find out my current body fat % - 6.59%. Slightly lower than I was expecting.

Undoubtedly the toughest Orienteering race I've ever done. But have never learnt so much in an 1.5 hours with a map so well worth it.
I'm really happy with some bearings but others were poor or I over shot them. Lots of learning points to take away from today
Was really nice to chat with some more experienced orienteers and the planner about how to run the course as effectively as possible.
