Took the Trans-Pennine Trail from Chapeltown down to Chesterfield. Hillier than I'd have liked after yesterday's race, but enjoyed the long gravel sections where I could just get my head down. Not too busy so bell only got sporadic use. HR strap battery replaced so have readings again.

Ride over to Pool along the north side of the river. A couple of stops to adjust new cleats.

3hr MBO score from Pool-in-Wharfedale. Had planned to head up the Danefield from the start assuming there were controls in there and work round in a clockwise direction. Realised after an hour that it wouldn't be possible to get all controls, but completely underestimated how long the northern controls would take. Ended up getting back round to Harewood with only a few mins spare, so just got 1 more control by Arthington before dropping down to the main road and battling the headwind home. A couple of nav errors where additional tracks weren't on the map, and trying to read fine detail on a 1:40,000 map. Lost 60pts from being 17mins late, but due to the higher volume of controls still won by 5pts. Need to get better at time estimation to avoid being massively late.

Did the session that had originally been planned for Wednesday, 2 sets of 15,30,45,60,45,30,15 max efforts with equal recovery, 15mins between sets. Been a while since I've done one of these, but happy with how the session went.

ARCC chaingang, running a bit late and summer bike not road-worthy (needs new wheels) so opted for group 2. A bigger group, for more of a 1A as half of us have been in group 1 previously, as a result it was a decent pace throughout, and we were actually quicker than group 1 on the return from Ilkley to Otley. Good effort up the Chevin, couldn't quite get onto James W's wheel but got to the top 5secs behind. Got the jump on him in the final sprint cresting the final incline and kept the gap to the sign. Another good workout.
