FVO WEE at Abbey Craig planned by Vicky.
A good trot round and OK course, lovely bluebells in parts. Helped Matthew on two occasions as he struggled to orientate himself - but he enjoyed it, and his chat with Iain afterwards and is keen to return - so all good.
I am knackered still from the weekend's activities. Not likely to be training tomorrow....
Run 30:00
Home early enough to squeeze in a jog down to Laigh Hills and back. Quads trashed still, rest of bod OK but still feeling tired and immune system low - cold sores.
Managed a bike ride with Hannah.
Run 30:00
Run from campsite to Nicol End Marine via footpaths and Portinscale. Good to spin the legs out, but wobbling like a newborn hippo.
Fabby canoe with the Simposon/O'Donovans and famies thereafter.
Fell Race race 2:22:19
Anniversary Waltz as part of Claire's 40th birthday weekend.
Nervous about surviving this but it was such a beautiful day and the views were incredible. I started near the rear because I couldn't find my pals so opted to work through the crowds on the 5k run out to the hills. Caught Jo Buckley but saw no-one else until we started climbing Robinson - then I saw Claire 80m in front. And she stayed about there for the next 90 minutes! I couldn't get near her! The wheel came off after 1;45 when my legs stopped being mine. I almost failed to climb the last hill and practically wobbled down the last slope - only to find a stranded buddy prone on the track, blaspheming to some tourists. Managed to get him to his feet and we both staggered to the end - passed in the last moments by a "Skipping" Becca.
Oh what pain, and oh what fun! Very memorable and chuffed to have survived it (3 days later the quads at still stuffed though!) License to eat and drink to excess at Claire's bash :-)
