ahr:139 max:161 shoes: Mudclaw 260 Green

+17 handicap with Jon and Dan. First leg.

Long time since I’ve done an o relay first leg. Tough but loads of fun. Really enjoyed the head to head with mainly RobL but also in part ColinE, and a small part AlisonC and various unknowns. Tussocks, bog myrtle, steep stuff. Pleased to do as well as I could have hoped nipping ahead of Kim B on the run in too - and feeling competitive against all the younger formentioned.
Then Jon and Dan sorted it :-))

Orienteering (SOC champs) 49:35 [3] 5.94 km (8:21 / km) +189m 7:13 / km
ahr:149 max:174 shoes: Mudclaw 260 Green

Nice race but won in 46, with sub 45 very doable. That’s getting into middle race territory.
Huge hesitation 2 to 3 when I was too far right and couldn’t make map fit…my fault not the map. Slow to 5 then binned a heap of time at 7 relocating off 8. Lack of concentration.
Bit fortunate to get 3rd= with PeterH…. top spot very much there for the taking but just too flakey today.

Note

No running but plenty other stuff in the sun. Feeling rest was likely to be far more beneficial than anything else in light of upcomings.

Wednesday May 24 #

6 PM

Trail 42:47 [3] 5.49 km (7:47 / km) +150m 6:51 / km
ahr:144 max:167 shoes: Mudclawsblueblackred3

Sunny up the back after much of the day in the garden. Bracken still not there so some terrain and single track. Nice, although pretty knackered from last night.

Trail 54:13 [4] 7.86 km (6:54 / km) +225m 6:02 / km
ahr:148 max:170 shoes: Mudclawsblueblackred3

W/u …plenty fast :-(
4 x 6/2.15 Kenyan hills with DR at GT
Having not run for ten days was somewhat dreading this but went as much for the social as anything. First GT session of the year too.
Turned out better than expected. Took it slightly gently to start but worked into it and probably went as well as I could have hoped. Suffered inevitably.
Good session, in no small measure due to the fact you maintain contact with everyone … fast or slow.
Will suffer tomorrow too.
