Coast and Islands Day 2: Achnamara
Just the best. What a forest. #10 ..2-3 mins a source of frustration. Pretty much ran past it down the spur.
Just wonderful orienteering.

Walk 47:57 [3] 1.34 km (35:44 / km) +51m 30:01 / km

Orienteering 1:07:51 [3] 5.03 km (13:29 / km) +286m 10:30 / km
ahr:152 max:188 shoes: Mudclaw 260 Green

Coast and Islands: Crinan
Tough, rugged, forest, full of great rock and contour detail. Clean underfoot but spikey spruce slowing the running right down. Steep too.

Disastrous number 1 but ok once that was out of the way. Bit of a head to head with HughB at times - fun!

Manning a control at salubrious Westerhailes. Struck lucky with the allotted radio control that had all the Men and all the Women going through it. Surrounded by dog sh*t mind.

Catch up with ChrisH…real blast from the past.

Went to Knockout rounds but wasn’t needed after all, so watched the fun…and caught up with a load of folk. Full of admiration for the folk successfully pulling it off!

WOC volunteer buffet held in the hall adjoining Holland House at Pollock: a facility not built at the time that the aforementioned student accommodation served as the residence of both Jethro and self, some 49 years ago. Scary stuff.

Great buffet lunch!

Orienteering 34:00 [3] 5.09 km (6:41 / km) +105m 6:04 / km
ahr:154 max:175 shoes: Trailfly Ultra Blue/Yellow

WOC Tour: Historic Edinburgh Long Urban
Love running the alleyways, steep steps, closes, old Edinburgh and this took us to a lot of the best. You couldn’t not enjoy it even if you aren’t a fan of urban O. Classic fight the tourist terrain in the Grassmarket & Royal Mile. Wonderful.

Only disappeared up one unmarked open alleyway..maybe a minute thrown away. Not even caught out by levels in the Cowgate.

Great to be part of it all. Blown away by some of the urban experts mind.

Sunday Jul 14 #

Watching the worlds best at HW, and catching up with “long lost” folk.
5 PM

Warm up/down 5:04 [3] 0.7 km (7:14 / km)
ahr:120 max:131

Orienteering 38:30 [3] 5.9 km (6:32 / km) +51m 6:15 / km
ahr:152 max:175 shoes: Trailfly Ultra Blue/Yellow

WOC Tour Riccarton
Bad headache in the morning, somewhat better later on. Wasn’t sure about running but decided to go out there and see how it felt.

Was running ok but ran an extra km otr so by going 5,16, 17…realising on the way to 18. Whoops. Went back anyway. Sums up my urban race record really!

Didn’t expect much and just happy enough to be seeming to run ok.
