Saunders - Wansfell - Day 1
A bit gentler overall today although there was still a big old climb up to illgill head to kick off and then a brutal steep descent where we got stuck in rocky gorse/bracken for a bit. Unfortunately for them Ed & Jon were stuck even worse and for longer and having lost time to them on the route choice and climb to #2 we sneaked back in front. Then there was a sequence that felt more like orienteering controls that I enjoyed a lot, partly as my legs had taken a bit of a beating on the steep slopes by that point.
Up there with the best Cochrane weekenders.

Saunders - Wansfell - Day 1
Ran with sister sally in a Cochrane smackdown against ma and Pa in one other team and the boys in another.
Great day out with a good epic climb to #7 and then tricky route through to #8 the highlights. We did well but the boys a bit quicker in the end after trading places a few times. We picked a couple of good routes but missed a path junction and dropped a bit too low on the second last - where actually coming straight off the path was best as the path was stony, twisty and crowded.
