Lots of walking, running and cycling round Wester Hailes making sure the WOC Tour race went to plan and the controls were in the right place.
Only on the day wrinkle was one permanently angry bloke on a moped, swearing at everyone and looking to intimidate. I'm not sure the more senior Australian ladies were expecting that, and neither was I. Fortunately no harm done.
Many last-minute map corrections due to building renovation work, and two extremely helpful contractor managers, who had the area tidied before the race. Sandy from SERS even opened up a passageway the night before the event so that the ground matched the map and saved some very awkward on-the-day map corrections.
All the volunteers worked astonishingly well under extreme time pressure, but how Lindsey Knox managed to coordinate all the Tour races and remain sane, sensible and smiling is beyond me.
