Swimming (Brunswick Baths) 26:53 [3] 1.0 km (26:53 / km)

Super hot so went for a late swim, lovely in the pool under the floodlights. Pretty empty and no kids in the changing room :)

Cycling 4:56 [3] 1.4 km (3:31 / km)

Tuesday Dec 12 #

Note

Left work to meet reubs and Clare for a pre trivia run but the trams had other ideas so was too late to run and had an Aperol spritz instead. Throat a bit sore so prob not the end of the world

Sunday Dec 10 #

12 PM

Mountain Biking (Buxton) 1:48:18 [3] 15.08 km (7:11 / km) +294m 6:33 / km
shoes: Gary Fisher SuperFly

Ride around the Buxton trails while Clare sat in the shade and read her book (because it's ok to come to the countryside to read your book whatever other people say)

Felt like I've lost a lot of technical ability the first half of the trails but got into it after a while and started enjoying myself. Had forgotten just how awesome some of these trails are, lovely wide berms and gully runs. Finished with a big smile on my face (even happier when it turned out Clare had made me sandwiches).

Bike making squeaky noises, so it might be going to visit Reuben again.

5 PM

Orienteering (MFR club champs) 15:38 [3] 2.22 km (7:02 / km) +10m 6:52 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Orienteered very badly around some bushes then ok around the school.

Running (Cathedral Ranges) 3:52:28 [3] 14.45 km (16:05 / km) +865m 12:23 / km
shoes: La Sportiva Ultra Raptors

Cathedrals Challenge race was cancelled - apparently called off by Parks Vic because of last weeks storms but according to a couple of people Clare spoke to it seems that they maybe didn't get their paperwork in order to get a permit in the first place. No refunds given, pretty damn cross.

Anyway, we'd booked the campground so decided to go up anyway, joined by Steve and Thierry for Sat/Sun.

Ran from campground up neds gully track (Clare ran up, I ran/hiked), then out to Little Cathedral, along to Cathedral then along the ridge track to the Farmyard and up Jawbone South. Stunning crazy rocky ridgeline, but not really runnable. Mostly scrambling and I was gettting behind just doing that which made me a bit cross.

Nice run down the hill to Cooks Mill and I finally gave Clare a bit of a race back to Neds. Really hope I start feeling a bit fitter soon, everything still feels a slog.

Lovely weekend to camp.

A kookaburra stole half of Clare's sandwich out of her hand, increasing my list of Australian animals to be scared of. Now stands at:
Magpies (evil swooping things)
Kookaburras
Kangaroos when driving at dusk (plus they apparently drown dogs)
Wombats when driving, or when they run straight towards you.
Snakes
Sharks
Cows (when there's lots of them in a paddock).
