Zwift - 3R Endurance Series p/b OTE Sports (E) - Harrogate Circuit

Thanks to Tuesday, I can only ride in cat. A+ for now. Had a complete confidence failure on Thursday/Friday, doubting whether the power data was accurate from Tuesday as I tried doing a micro effort on Thursday and it was pretty tough to even get up those numbers. Peter pointed out that you wouldn't try and run at race pace randomly during the week, and if you did it would probably feel pretty grim! Add on to that I'd actually just done a 50min climb, and it makes sense. Still, lots of doubts going into this, so much so I had a cup of coffee just before #basicallydoping

Hard off the line, as is the only way, and could sit near the front with BPM in the 170s, good news, I know I can sustain this. Then we got to some steep hills and shit got very real very quickly. Bad news, I know I can't sustain this. Was having to go full gas just to hang on. The drop was inevitable. Survived for 30mins and then got shat out on the steepest climb. Was very tempted to pull the plug and save the ride with the big numbers I would have had up to the point, but decided to race on. Got into a group of 3 and tried to limit the losses. Was still able to ride strong, and 4+w/kg really wasn't that hard to sustain. Did most of the work in the trio, but then got majorly out-sprinted. Nothing I could do about that. Those are numbers I just don't have.

Having looked at the date, my FTP is good, but I just can't produce the raw watts for a sprint, or to keep in touch on short punchy climbs. I actually had the 3rd highest w/kg average in the race. But that means nothing if you aren't in the front group. Until I can improve my 1min power, I'm only going to do well in races that start completely flat, and then have a long climb at the end.

4.9 w/kg avg.
329w avg.

New FTP
335w or 5.0w/kg

These are pretty good numbers, but there is basically no difference between what I can do for an hour and what I can do for a minute...
