Had been looking forward to Tessa's christmas weekend but it proved too much logistically to get up to the highlands :'-( As a plan b i managed to land myself a last minute gig helping the junior national team in the lakes. Dale park this morning which was gorgeous! And the freezing rain only started near the end. Hung some kites, shadowed a windows loop, ran 3 more by myself and collected a few in. Quite big problems on the compass, about 6 controls in a row where i was at least 50m right even after short legs. It's not often ive been doing compass practice without features on the map, i think i need to sort out how im holding and checking it again.

Seem to have developed a weird dry cough and headache, so kept it short this aft, especially as the weather had turned very grim indeed. More shadowing, bishop woods.

Went to explore Longshaw, M21 from northern champs a few years ago plus a bit extra. Just trundling along, like normal atm feeling strong but with crap running economy. Good direction practice.

i should really swap the rest day. quite a bad headache from being a bit short on sleep, i think i can get much more from myself by recovering now and going again tomorrow. at least my foot is quite okay after yesterday, positive!

easy run up to forge dam and drills on the way home. drills working dynamically at the range of movement, so quite a high load. v easy home after that. hopefully got the balance right, need to work at this load though to keep improving.

Small paths and heather. Some places i was working really hard, others i was watching my footing a bit much. Really heavy legs after i upped the load again in the gym, so v slow before and after, but managed alright on the session itself.

Probably a good idea to switch to maintenance in the gym while i keep adding in more quality running.

Finally i can go and join in a group run again! Lovely day too. Out on white edge, first time i've been up there. Carrying on okay with the progression.
