Stag sosol at Cathkin Braes. Main acheivement was offloading Paddy Walders two trophys that I have been carting around since the Tinto Twin/Urban league prizegivings!
Enjoyed the challenge of Cathkin this time more than most.
MInor blip when started navigating to 9 instead of 6 (the second time in 3 weeks my course has had a loop starting in 6 and ending in 9 - whats controllering coming to these days I dont know! ;) - its like they are trying to catch me out.
Actually turned out heding towards 9 was the fastest route to 6 anyhow so alls well...
However this wasnt my main blip. Got caught in the worst of the weather coming round to the last control so head down and followed the tapes ( with hindsight the control description does say navigate to finish but there were tapes!!) to what I thought was the finish - well it was a control at the other end of the tapes.
Turned out what I'd done is run straight past the finish and followed the continuous tapes in a straight line to the last control on the white course. First time I think that has happened to me. The actual finish on recce was to the right of the tapes behind a thicket but perfectly visible to everybody else apart from me with my head down fighting the rain.
Was kind of hoping some other mug would do the same just to show it wasnt my fault entirely but sadly Andy Mac didnt show up. At least it was just a sosol.
Not sure if my return to the finish punch and redownload is actually legal but since its 8min more than my first finish time I'm not sure whether a DQ might not be the better option. Doh
